Short answer. Documented 2026 market rates run roughly IDR 800,000 to 1,500,000 per person per night for budget open trips, IDR 1,800,000 to 3,500,000 mid-range, and IDR 4,000,000 to 8,000,000 plus for luxury. Whole-boat charter runs IDR 15,000,000 to 25,000,000 per night at the budget end and IDR 60,000,000 to 120,000,000 plus at the luxury end.

Komodo liveaboard pricing is opaque on purpose. Every operator quotes a different inclusion set, park fees float outside the number, and the same vessel is sold at three prices through three agents. This page sets out the market bands, plots one boat’s published rates against them without spin, and lists the costs that never appear in a headline.

The three market bands

Komodo open-trip price bands, documented 2026 market ranges.
SegmentPer person, per nightWhat you are actually getting
Budget open tripIDR 800,000 – 1,500,000Wooden day-boat conversions, shared bathrooms common, fan or basic AC, minimal deck space
Mid-range open tripIDR 1,800,000 – 3,500,000Small phinisi, en-suite cabins, air conditioning, a proper crew and guide
Luxury open tripIDR 4,000,000 – 8,000,000+Large phinisi, private bathrooms, full crew, sundeck, on-board extras
Komodo whole-boat charter price bands, documented 2026 market ranges.
SegmentPer boat, per nightTypical vessel
Budget charterIDR 15,000,000 – 25,000,000Small vessels, basic fit-out
Mid-range charterIDR 25,000,000 – 50,000,000Boutique phinisi, 4-8 cabins
Luxury charterIDR 60,000,000 – 120,000,000+Large phinisi and motor yachts

Where does Lady Grace actually sit?

No spin, just arithmetic. The published open-trip rates are per person for a three-day, two-night trip, so dividing by two nights gives a per-night figure comparable with the bands above.

Lady Grace published open-trip rates (31 July 2026) converted to per-night and mapped onto the documented market bands.
Cabin gradePublished 3D2N per personImplied per person, per nightBand
Suite Ocean ViewIDR 8,500,000IDR 4,250,000Luxury, at the entry line
Junior Suite Ocean ViewIDR 8,000,000IDR 4,000,000Luxury, at the entry line
Grand Deluxe Ocean ViewIDR 7,750,000IDR 3,875,000Top of mid-range
DeluxeIDR 5,750,000IDR 2,875,000Mid-range
SuperiorIDR 5,250,000IDR 2,625,000Mid-range

The same exercise on the charter side: a 3D2N whole-boat charter at IDR 123,000,000 across two nights is roughly IDR 61,500,000 per night, which lands just inside the luxury charter band that starts around IDR 60,000,000.

Lady Grace whole-boat charter, published rates (31 July 2026)
Duration1-10 guests11-20 guestsEach additional guest
2D1NIDR 94,000,000IDR 100,000,000IDR 4,000,000
3D2NIDR 123,000,000IDR 129,000,000IDR 5,500,000
4D3NIDR 157,000,000IDR 165,000,000IDR 7,000,000

The honest conclusion is that this vessel sits at the entry line of the luxury band rather than in ultra-luxury territory, and that its suites and its deluxe cabins occupy genuinely different segments of the market. Anyone claiming otherwise in either direction is selling you something. Full detail on what the rate buys is on the luxury Komodo cruise page, and the whole-boat economics are on the price and packages guide.

The costs that are never in the headline

Costs that sit outside the cabin or charter rate. Park-fee arithmetic is set out in full in the fee breakdown.
ExtraRealistic amountNotes
Komodo National Park feesIDR 550,000 – 900,000 per person for 3D2NGovernment-set, excluded from every boat rate
Flights to Labuan BajoVariesUsually via Denpasar or Jakarta into Komodo Airport
One hotel night before departureVariesAlmost always necessary for a 09:00 boarding
Drone permitApprox. IDR 2,100,000, operator estimateRequested about seven days ahead
Alcohol and soft drinksVariesWater, coffee and tea are included; nothing else is
Crew gratuitiesDiscretionaryCustomary but not fixed

Add those up and a IDR 5,250,000 cabin is realistically a IDR 6,000,000 to 6,500,000 trip before flights. That is not a criticism of the pricing; it is the shape of every Komodo quote in the market. The itemised version is in the guide to Komodo National Park entrance fees.

What actually separates the bands?

It is tempting to read the jump from IDR 1,500,000 to IDR 4,000,000 a night as pure branding. It is not. Four concrete things move as you climb.

The first is the bathroom. Shared facilities are normal at the budget end and effectively unheard of above mid-range, and on a three-day trip with twenty other people that single difference changes the character of the holiday more than anything else on the list. The second is power. Cheaper vessels frequently shut the generator down overnight, which means no air conditioning between midnight and dawn in a climate that does not cool off; boats in the upper bands run through the night, which is why generator capacity appears in their specifications at all.

The third is space, and it is the one nobody quotes. Deck area per guest determines whether the sundeck is somewhere you spend the afternoon or somewhere you queue for a lounger. A larger hull with a 6.3-metre beam simply has more of it than a converted day boat, regardless of how the cabins are priced. The fourth is crew depth: a boat with a full galley team, a dedicated guide and enough hands to run a tender continuously delivers a different day from one where the same three people cook, drive and guide.

None of that makes an expensive boat automatically right for you. A confident traveller who spends the whole trip in the water and sleeps anywhere is genuinely better served by the budget band. The point is to know which of the four you are buying, so the premium is a decision rather than a surprise.

Why the same boat costs three different amounts

Agent margin, season and group size, in that order. A vessel sold direct by its operator, through a local agent and through an overseas dive-travel wholesaler will carry three different prices for the identical cabin. Peak months from June to September command more than February. And on a charter, the per-head cost collapses as the group grows, because the boat price barely moves.

The practical advice: get the quote from the operator directly, ask for the inclusion list in writing, and compare inclusion lists rather than headline numbers.

Bands, not quotations. The market ranges above are documented 2026 figures reviewed 31 July 2026 and vary by season, agent and vessel. The Lady Grace figures are the operator’s own published rates on that date. Neither constitutes a quotation; confirm current pricing in writing before you pay.

Boats in adjacent price bands, including smaller vessels for couples and larger ones for groups, are listed by the parent company’s Komodo page.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Komodo liveaboard per person?

Documented 2026 bands run IDR 800,000 to 1,500,000 per person per night for budget trips, IDR 1,800,000 to 3,500,000 for mid-range, and IDR 4,000,000 to 8,000,000 plus for luxury vessels. Park fees sit on top of all of them.

How much does it cost to charter a whole boat in Komodo?

Documented 2026 charter bands are roughly IDR 15,000,000 to 25,000,000 per night for budget vessels, IDR 25,000,000 to 50,000,000 mid-range and IDR 60,000,000 to 120,000,000 plus for luxury. A published 3D2N charter at IDR 123,000,000 works out at about IDR 61,500,000 per night.

Why are Komodo liveaboard prices so different between websites?

Agent margin, season and inclusion set. The same cabin sold direct, through a local agent and through an overseas wholesaler carries three prices. Compare what is included rather than the headline figure.

What is not included in a Komodo liveaboard price?

Park entrance and conservation fees, flights, alcoholic and soft drinks, personal snacks, crew gratuities and the drone permit. On Lady Grace, meals, water, coffee, tea, guide, snorkelling gear, life vests and local pickup are included.

Is a Komodo liveaboard worth the price?

It depends what you are comparing it with. Against a day trip, an overnight boat buys you the 06:00 Padar ridge and the Kalong sunset that day boats structurally cannot reach. Against a hotel, you are paying for the vessel, the crew and the access, not just the bed.
